Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel. ~Plutarch (sort of)

Hello, I am Elena. I grew up gifted, with four gifted siblings. My children, 8 and 6, are gifted learners. They love to read, to imagine, to play with words, to do “hard” math in the car on the way to school. They read astonishing books and tell me astounding things. They ask me profound and hilarious questions. They are so much fun, but we have our challenges, and if you are here reading this, you probably have challenges with your gifted child, too.

There are many gifted and talented resources out there with advice for advocacy, acceleration discussion, lists of deep dive math drills and vocabulary builders. This isn’t one of them. We’re not about analyzing test scores or getting kids into programs, although I understand and support why you and your child might want that. So much discussion about gifted children seems to focus on the stressful side of life and and we’d like to insert a little balance into the internet universe. This site is for the fun and thrilling side of gifted enrichment. Think low pressure and high challenge. Recess time for your family. Here, you’ll find ideas for play and enrichment that celebrate your child’s quick and clever mind and that give you a chance to engage them in the best possible ways. When we find something that delights us, I’ll post it here, and hopefully it will be of use to you. And if you have a book suggestion or neat activity that you would like to share, please post it in the comments! I want to hear from you, too.

A note about the label of giftedness: it so fraught. Every family is unique, and every child is, too. We all walk the path the best we know how. So please understand that this site is meant to be inspiring and inclusive. Feel free to share or use these activities with any child, no matter what the labels, who you feel would enjoy them.
